Due to an anticipated winter storm, Adoration and Mass have been cancelled for Tuesday, December 29th and Wednesday, December 30th. We hope to see you for The Solemnity of Mary Masses Thursday, December 31st at 4:00 pm at St. Mary's and 6:00 pm in SSPP. SSPP will also have mass Friday, January 1st at 9:00 am. Stay warm and safe!

Especially during the Christmas season, we are reminded of our blessings and the hardships others may be facing. This year monetary donations will be collected to buy gift cards for selected parishioners to purchase food or gifts. While the turkey is roasting and Jello salad setting, join us for Thanksgiving Mass! (8:00 AM St. Mary's & 9:30 AM SS Peter & Paul) SSPP will also offer Mass the following morning at 9:00 AM instead of the usual 7:00 AM. May we all have a blessed day this Thanksgiving, as we bring to mind those things for which we are truly grateful.
Effective immediately, Bishop Joensen is requiring require face masks or coverings at all public Masses, sacramental celebrations, and other events in Church buildings in the Diocese of Des Moines, effective immediately. This requirement extends through February 2, 2021 (The Feast of the Presentation), at which time it will be reviewed.
This year we are partnering with St. Paul's Lutheran Church to collect outdoor winter apparel items. Please bring clean, new or gently used winter coats, hats, earmuffs, mittens, scarves, and/or boots to the SSPP Church drop off. If you are unable leave your items in the back of the church, DeeAnn Schreiner has generously offered to pick up donations. She can be reached by calling (712) 254-1459. Donations will be accepted now through November 22nd. Help us support those in our community who may not be able to prepare for the cold, upcoming season!
SS Peter & Paul will have Mass at Noon and 7:00 pm and St. Mary's will have Mass at 5:00 pm Monday, November 2nd, All Souls' Day. Although not a holy day of obligation, please come and pray those who have died and not yet reached heaven. Candles will be lit on the side altars in remembrance of parishioners who passed over the past year.
Thank you to all the committee members, sponsors, volunteers, and players who helped make our event such a success. It was a beautiful day, and over $6,000 was raised! We will be using the funds toward the replating of several candelabras for the church. We hope to see you all at the course again next year. (click the announcement title for additional information)

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will be available this week! Each Tuesday evening, SSPP will have Holy Hour from 4:15 PM to 5:15 PM, Benediction around 5:10 PM and Mass at 5:15 PM. We will also have a one hour opportunity for Adoration after First Friday's Mass. We are pleased to announce the recommencement of these traditions that help enrich our Catholic faith.
Effective Saturday, August 1st, all SSPP masses will be held in the church. We will need to also disinfect the pews after daily masses, so please pick up a colored square card from the table when entering the church, and leave it in the pew when you leave. Don't forget to leave at least one pew between your family and other parishioners, also. We look forward to seeing you in church!
